What Is Geisha?

The Story Behind the World's Most Celebrated Bean

Geisha is a rare coffee variety in Panama's highlands, where it found its finest expression in Boquete, on the slopes of Volcán Barú, where volcanic soil, cool cloud-forest air and the gentle Bajareque mist give the bean its extraordinary clarity.

Low-yielding and painstaking to grow, Boquete Geisha is produced in tiny lots. Its delicate, tea-like cup has made it the benchmark of the specialty coffee world — and, year after year, the most expensive coffee ever sold at auction.
